  • Use show idprom interface to verify SFP compatibility and hardware details .

Step 5: Verify Connectivity

  • Connect a fiber cable to the port and confirm the link status changes to "up".
  • Optionally, use a fiber optic power meter or OTDR to measure optical power and detect faults or breaks in the fiber .

Step 6: Troubleshooting

  • Ensure the SFP module is compatible with the switch model and supports the same speed on both ends of the link .
  • If the port is err-disabled due to an unsupported transceiver, follow Cisco guidance to replace it with a compatible module .
