The Mysterious Laser Receiver Sensor Module!
For the common light-beam source (i.e. the light transmitter), try the “Red Laser Module” or the “Red Laser Diode”
An infrared receiving diode is a semiconductor device sensitive to IR light, typically in the wavelength range of 700 nm to 1 mm, which includes the near-infrared spectrum used by most IR lasers and LEDs . When IR photons from a laser strike the diode, they excite electrons across the semiconductor's band gap, generating a small photocurrent proportional to the light intensity . This process is similar to the emission mechanism in IR LEDs but in reverse: instead of emitting photons, the diode absorbs them and produces an electrical signal.
IR lasers emit coherent, narrow, and directional beams through stimulated emission, which makes them highly concentrated compared to IR LEDs . When this laser light is directed at an IR receiving diode, the diode's active region absorbs the photons efficiently if the laser wavelength matches the diode's sensitivity range. The resulting photocurrent is very small and typically requires amplification using a preamplifier or operational amplifier to be usable in circuits .
A typical IR receiver circuit includes:
